When Oracle acquired JD Edwards in 2005, anxiety radiated throughout the JD Edwards’ community. It seemed that Oracle was keen to move loyal users over to their own products, first downgrading and then discontinuing support for JD Edwards applications.

But on March 23, 2023, Oracle issued a very welcome announcement: They’ll be extending Premier Support for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.2 at least through 2034.

If you’re a JDE EnterpriseOne 9.2 user — or have been debating an upgrade to 9.2 but concerned about your support window being cut short — this announcement is great news. With the extension of Premier Support, users can expect to extend the lives of their investments through ongoing Oracle product innovation. Here are the details you’ll need to know:

New Features, New Capabilities, Increased Security

With this support renewal comes a promise: Oracle is reinforcing its commitment to product innovation. Users will now have the opportunity to access new features and capabilities, as well as to apply new security patches to their existing 9.2 release, without needing to upgrade.

Oracle has committed to delivering enhancements for JDE Enterprise regularly, along with maintenance, regulatory updates, and technology improvements.

Long-Term Support Policy

By extending their JD Edwards EnterpriseOne support, users can look forward to all the benefits that come with a long-term support policy. They’ll now have the ability to maximize and expand their existing investments, as well as to create a roadmap through December 2034. With Oracle’s promise that JD Edwards users can continue to run EnterpriseOne 9.2 with ongoing enhancements and support, they can look forward to a solid upgrade ROI.

There are, however, some JDE customers who have chosen not to pursue these updates, as doing so wouldn’t benefit their business process. In such cases, switching to Spinnaker Support provides users unparalleled support, without any reliance on Oracle’s self-service model, while saving 62% on costs.

Increased Longevity

When it comes to Oracle’s end-of-support dates for JD Edwards products, EnterpriseOne 9.2 has the most longevity. Premier Support for World A9.4 ended in April 2022, and its extended Support ends April 2025.

Luckily, Spinnaker Support has a team of award-winning JD Edwards experts in both EnterpriseOne and World, who are prepared to provide reliable support for any current or legacy JD Edwards product, at a fraction of Oracle’s costs.
