Thousands of organizations worldwide use Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) to run their key business operations and processes. In recent years, Oracle’s strategic product roadmap has shifted to focus on Cloud-based products and services. As a consequence, popular on-premise products like EBS are seeing a slowing of development and a shift to Sustaining Support for most versions.
Because many of our current customers run Oracle EBS, we’ve been naturally curious as to the current state of the EBS market. We wanted to know:
- How committed are customers to this ERP?
- How have the events of the last year impacted their application and technology roadmaps?
- How do they feel about Oracle-provided support?
- How many are using third-party vendors to assist their management of EBS?
- And more.
We reached out to the leadership of the Oracle Applications & Technology Users Group (OATUG) and found a kindred interest in understanding the market. With an absence of unbiased EBS research and a large portion of their member companies running EBS, OATUG agreed that a joint benchmarking study would offer much-needed insight into this substantial Oracle userbase.
In the spring of 2021, we coordinated with OATUG to survey as many of their members as possible. Nearly 500 OATUG-affiliated EBS customers voluntarily responded to our questions. These individuals represent EBS implementations of all sizes from a wide range of industries and geographies.
The resulting research paper “Oracle E-Business Suite: Customer Plans & Perspectives,” published by OATUG, provides a fresh and unprecedented analysis into the attitudes and aspirations of EBS customers from around the globe. The paper reveals the complexity of the current market and offers valuable insights into the strategies, preferences, and concerns of today’s dedicated EBS customers.
