Third-party support still in growth mode following conclusion of Oracle/Rimini Street litigation

In the lead-up to the Oracle/Rimini Street trial, much was written about the concept of third-party support. Some observers said that the third-party concept itself was being challenged. Nothing could be further from the truth.

We at Spinnaker Support are pleased that the multi-year litigation has finally been resolved. This case cast a cloud over a very valuable alternative to Oracle and SAP software support. Rimini Street, found liable on multiple counts, was ordered to pay $53 million in damages, with its CEO, Seth Ravin, personally responsible for $14 million of the judgement. Additionally, Oracle plans to ask the court for post-trial injunctive relief and restitution regarding attorneys’ fees. The totality of the verdict and injunctions could potentially create a material impact on Rimini Street’s future business capabilities.
